What Six Years of Web Design Has Done

I have no idea how I can find idle time amidst my ‘workload.’ My initial intentions of putting it off for a bit is working against me by experiencing these sudden attacks of boredom. Happens rarely in my case, because I’m just not one to succumb to it. I’m a doer, and not one to be a bum. And I get easily amused and distracted, so imagine the frustration of being ‘bored.’ Hayayay.

Amazingly enough, I have a best friend who happens to be bored when I am too. haha. Together, we make the best YM conversations in the planet. It’s soooo much fun to just talk about anything with her. From the mundane to the downright scandalous. We always end up making each other laugh out loud. We are also expert party and event planners. So if ever you are in need of some planning, just holler at us. Jazmine, we rock.

It’s been awhile since I actually wrote a spontaneous blog entry. Usually, the blog entries I write are meant to be written beforehand. Probably because I have something interesting to share and let out. So, yeah. This time, I don’t exactly have something blog-worthy to share. I just figured that I probably should write more.

Ooooh… I’ve been fixing the files in my computer, (Actually, more like revamping my Mac into pure eye-candy goodness!) and as I was checking out my old web documents, I came across files from my past websites. I think nostalgia got the most out of me.

Finally. This post will have a point.

I’ve been doing web design for around 6 years or so already. I started during my last year in Grade school via an Ezboard forum that I created to share my fandom obsessions over Jennifer Love Hewitt and Charmed. Eventually, I found myself playing with html codes, going through those crazy pixel-doll/kawaii phase, and even all those javascript codes that were once fo shizzle. After that board, I started my own personal website and blog. I’ve managed to save some of my old posts back then. For most of the time, I was either cringing with embarrassment or laughing hysterically. I sounded so young, with a lot of ditzy moments to add. haha. But after four awesome hosts, I stopped and got into a long hiatus away from the web design world. However, during those years, I had the chance to develop my Photoshop and coding skills. And to all those who emailed me about teaching you guys the basics, I’m sorry to tell you that it’s really a matter of experimenting and figuring it out. If all else fails, there are a million tutorials out there. Let Google be your friend.

Summer before college, I wanted to create a space in the Web that is entirely my own. And now as an incoming junior, I’ve managed to make an outlet that satisfies my tendency to be as self-absorbed as I can be. More importantly, I have this place to experiment on the webdesign trends of today: CSS and Web Standards. I love it and will try to continue keeping this blog for as long as I can.

Basically, that’s a brief history. It’s always nice to know how much I have changed. Reading my past entries, browsing through my old collection of layouts and finally comparing them to what this site has become, reminds me of everything I’ve been through. And I’m not just referring to my geeky side.

The skies have lately been dark and gloomy. It’s been raining hard. It’s the ultimate homebound weather. I love it. Let’s just hope there will be no extreme floods or casualties.
