Thank God for Some Series Downtime

23 October 2007

Lists that prove just how much of a TV-junkie I am, and some more.

  • My sister and I have color-coded, computerized tabled lists that shows who will download what per day to maximize bandwidth.
  • Mac has this amazing program called TV Shows that automatically downloads the right torrent file at the right time and even opens up Azureus/Transmission for me automatically as well.
  • We schedule the times when we are able to watch our shows. Contrary to what this list has made me sound like, I usually am out all the time. My sister and I have agreed we shall watch together, so we have to actually ‘schedule it in.’
  • I can name the US networks and time slots of all those shows. In fact, I have been recently fascinated with TV ratings and the show’s demographic, especially amongst competitive time slots, networks and shows.

I Heart PolSci People

16 October 2007

I just got home from watching Stardust with my friends, Jam and Kent. FYI: It was a really, really good and entertaining movie. Neil Gaiman never fails.

I’m pretty much in total sembreak mode despite a major group research paper to be submitted this Friday. I guess I’ll be devoting my entire day tomorrow for that. Also, my new chocolate-detox diet is ongoing and I haven’t failed yet! It’s almost a week since I started depriving myself of my ultimate sweet weakness. Good job me.

It’s pretty obvious how much of a series-freak I am. Apart from all the shows I’ve mentioned in my previous post, I am now hooked with two new ones: Pushing Daisies and Journeyman. If you enjoy trying out a quirky, fun, whimsical, forensic ‘fairy tale,’ I highly recommend checking out the former one. (It also has 3 broadway divas including Kristin Chenoweth!!!) The latter, on the other hand, is for those who like more time-traveling adventure and mystery. It’s also set in San Francisco, which made me all nostalgic about Charmed. Due to the insane number of downloads we have for the week, my sister and I have our own weekly download system.

But before I continue on with my series-filled night, I’ll share some pictures with my blockmates from last Friday’s sem-ender. To celebrate the end of our hell sem, we channeled our love for singing and indulged on our own KTV Night in Greenhills.

Sem-ender fun

It was chaos, of course. My blockmates are pretty much entertainers in their own right that I can’t help but think we might be in the wrong course. hahaha. Most of the time, we can’t help but inject our own ‘theatrics’ in any presentation or report. I swear my blockmates ooze talent. Our previous teachers can attest to that.

KTV night!

It might seem like they’re goofing up and cracking sabaw jokes all the time. But every...

Reeling from Episode 20 of Heroes

2 May 2007

Peter Petrelli owns me.

Fear not. This is a spoiler-free reaction. Don’t be surprised if I’m going to be at my utmost fandom point, because I just finished watching the best episode of Heroes an hour ago.

Oh, Peter Petrelli

I wish I could post my theories, my rants and raves, but I know some of you guys might not want that at all. How does Tim Kring do it??? The storyline is nothing short of brilliant. The twists are aptly put. The way the characters are developed are amazing. It’s freakin exciting! It doesn’t end up becoming some mindless action, X-Men rip-off of a show. It isn’t hard to sympathize with the characters and follow through their adventures. It’s just too good. And it will be very painful for all this to end so soon.

To those who follow the show religiously, comment and tell me I’m not alone. Haha.

Recovering from the summer blogging slump

26 April 2007

It seems like I’ve been on some kind of blogging slump. Mostly because summer permits me to actually have some time not to just waste solely on the internet. I still end up browsing for a bit though, especially when insomnia hits past midnight. Oh what should I do??? Regardless of a terribly exhausting day or not, I still end up like the nocturnal person I don’t want to get used to be.

Shush. The things that bother me during summer time. Sweet.

With my COC friends: Ej, Zel and PiaA few days ago, my fabulous Candy Council of Cool 7 friends met up for a meeting in Greenbelt. Our brainstorming session went rather well, and we were able to come up with lots of good ideas. In between all the Candy-related business, we ended up having so much fun by just catching up, sharing, talking, laughing and making jokes. I’m so thankful I was given this chance to be a part of Candy magazine, meet the fabulous editors and work with these beautiful girls. Despite age, batch, school, and even personality differences, we all had something to share and contribute. To put it simply: I’m having a great time. I love them. Here’s a group picture below. Sadly, Anj wasn’t able to join us. We all missed you, Anj!

The American Idol Gives Back concert is on right now, while I’m making this part of the blog entry. At this point, Annie Lenox is singing Bridge Over Troubled Water. Can I just say she’s amazing? Actually, all the performances are spectacular, and the star-studded charity event is unbelievable. Grrrabe. I find myself a bit teary-eyed from all the footages of the damning problem that plagues Africa and even the youth of Africa. It’s just so moving. The urge to make a difference tugs my heartstrings.

Bono. American Prayer. Argh. It’s official...
