Photoblog: Singapore
Our trip to Singapore has been way too much fun for words. And after taking around 800 pictures and more than an hour’s worth of video, a photoblog is the way to go. My apologies in advance for this incredibly overloaded entry.

I hear the sleigh bells ringing
Sunday mornings are usually devoted to a bit of contemplation and reflection about the passing week. That has always been some kind of a ritual, allowing me some kind of comfort and refuge to handle the week ahead.
The past three weeks have been academically trying. Late-nights with around less than 4 hours of sleep every day are all very normal. And the December weather together with my long, long breaks only add up to more moments left for added contemplation, reflection and maybe come academic condemnation.
I wonder what’s in the December air that everyone seems to be succumbing to their emo-ridden selves. Lately, I’ve been hanging out with my blockmates and we usually end up discussing life’s trivial questions – what ifs, what nots, the all-too complicated matters of the heart (thank you Scott Peck). I really don’t mind. In a way, there is a sense of relief, thrill, and comfort derived from appeasing my blockmates’ feelings. I also get that chance to know some of them better and that becomes an exciting process. I also find myself victimizing them with Anberlin’s Inevitable. Thank you, bff. It is all very amusing to see how that song never fails to hit them.
The anticipation of the nearing holidays is all too fleeting. Although it stirs up much warmth and glee, the workload left for us till the very end is overwhelming. I guess I’m just going to try and enjoy every bit of it. Yesterday, my family and I went to the World Bazaar at the World Trade Center, which meant I got to come home with bags of new stuff for Christmas. Later on, we headed to SM Mall of Asia to meet up with my mom’s college friends and dormmates. While having dinner, I couldn’t help but be delighted at seeing all of them happily go down memory lane. I wonder how that would be like with my blockmates. We’re all hopefully lawyers, diplomats, politicians,...
Living the 5-day weekend to the fullest
I just got home from a long, intense, yet surprisingly fruitful shoot for our History165 video project. It was supposed to start at 1:30pm, but we only had the chance to finally shoot 2 and a half hours later. Blame the holiday for the lack of admin people. We had to go through so much red tape. Freakin SOPs. Thankfully, a few contacts, name-drops and kickass, no-nonsense phone calls from mom saved the day.
Our adventure started from Luneta Grandstand, Luneta Park, Intramuros, Fort Santiago and ended back at Intramuros’ Barbara’s Restaurant. For most part, I was donning a shimmery green terno. We had to shoot at several places inside Fort Santiago. So just imagine the flock of foreign tourists wanting to take pictures of me and some of my groupmates, decked out in full Filipiniana gear. I really didn’t mind. I was just glad that we got the chance to shoot there and take advantage of the beautiful spots and scenery. Haaaay… Intramuros is the place to be.
Even if I really didn’t have much scenes that time, shooting was still very exhausting. Going from one place to another without having any time to stop and eat took its toll, because now I am just poofed. I have yet to study for my 7:30am Public Management group midterms tomorrow. Aaaahh. Good luck.
I really tried to make the most of my 6 day rest. I had the chance to watch 3 movies: Surf’s Up, A Love Story and The Bourne Ultimatum. All of which I enjoyed for different reasons. I even had the chance to check out the Urban Bazaar at the Rockwell Tent last Saturday. Retail therapy is something I always enjoy. Great, great finds! (Nakita ko pa si Anne Curtis, Raymond Gutierrez and Jericho Rosales.) Haha. Ang ganda ni Anne. :P
But I guess my short vacation had to end at this time. I’m about to start studying because the next few days… weeks will be...
Harry Potter Book 7 Day!
Fret not. This is SPOILER FREE.
Oh yes. This post is going to manifest Harry Potter fandom to the nth level. I just can’t possibly let this magical day go to waste without blogging about this much-anticipated release. I have long been excited about the book – a million times more than the release of the 5th movie. (FYI: I enjoyed the movie incredibly, and thought it was still brilliant.) Besides, after having finished reading the final installment, I just have to have some sort of ‘vent-out.’ Especially since I don’t know anyone who has finished the book at this very hour.

“We now present the seventh and final installment in the epic tale of Harry Potter.” (Written inside the book jacket.)
I was happy to wake up pretty darn early to line up for the 7am release over at Powerbooks, Greenbelt. My sister and I arrived 20 minutes before 7, and were already greeted by 2 long lines. It was so hard for me to contain my excitement around my sister and the people there especially when Powerbooks, Greenbelt was transformed to some kind of Harry Potter haven overnight!

It didn’t take long till my sister and I got our copy. Heck, just before we paid for it, guys from Kids Q interviewed me! Powerbooks even gave out free magazines, donuts and coffee. Everyone’s capitalizing on this global phenomenon, and celebrating the HP fever! I don’t mind! I love it. I’m a massive fan! And no matter how annoying this hype can be to all those could-care-less people, I’d still happily rave about it!!! Weeeee!

That’s me and my sister. Mukhang sobrang bangag! haha. Early morning excitement! You could just imagine the inexplainable rush that took hold of me upon skimming through the first page. No. I did not...
Recovering from the summer blogging slump
It seems like I’ve been on some kind of blogging slump. Mostly because summer permits me to actually have some time not to just waste solely on the internet. I still end up browsing for a bit though, especially when insomnia hits past midnight. Oh what should I do??? Regardless of a terribly exhausting day or not, I still end up like the nocturnal person I don’t want to get used to be.
Shush. The things that bother me during summer time. Sweet.
A few days ago, my fabulous Candy Council of Cool 7 friends met up for a meeting in Greenbelt. Our brainstorming session went rather well, and we were able to come up with lots of good ideas. In between all the Candy-related business, we ended up having so much fun by just catching up, sharing, talking, laughing and making jokes. I’m so thankful I was given this chance to be a part of Candy magazine, meet the fabulous editors and work with these beautiful girls. Despite age, batch, school, and even personality differences, we all had something to share and contribute. To put it simply: I’m having a great time. I love them. Here’s a group picture below. Sadly, Anj wasn’t able to join us. We all missed you, Anj!

The American Idol Gives Back concert is on right now, while I’m making this part of the blog entry. At this point, Annie Lenox is singing Bridge Over Troubled Water. Can I just say she’s amazing? Actually, all the performances are spectacular, and the star-studded charity event is unbelievable. Grrrabe. I find myself a bit teary-eyed from all the footages of the damning problem that plagues Africa and even the youth of Africa. It’s just so moving. The urge to make a difference tugs my heartstrings.
Bono. American Prayer. Argh. It’s official...
