Happy Happy 21

22 August 2008

My internet has been quite screwy lately, which made me postpone blogging time, but now it’s all dandy and I actually have some time for myself to rest and recover from a little bit of everything. It’s not going to last long since I still have midterms, orals and a lot of org work to accomplish during the next few weeks. At this point, I might as well share a few happy happenings recently as I just turned twenty-one last Wednesday. :)

Happy 21st Birthday, me!

On Lifehouse and Alicia Keys

6 August 2008

I’ve been enjoying a lot of downtime lately, and part of that is having the time to enjoy some of the musical acts that have been coming over to this part of the globe. It’s quite exciting that there has been a no. of bands and performers coming over here. Not to mention really good theatre productions and musicals out in the next few months! It’s all making me really excited, even if it means starving for quite some time. hahaha. I’ve managed to catch Lifehouse last July 26 and Alicia Keys yesterday, and I really don’t regret shelling a small fortune for them. (Although, I honestly believed that the amount I paid for the Alicia Keys concert experience is relatively cheap, considering the quality of her phenomenal performance.)

Watching Lifehouse with my sister

I watched Lifehouse with my sister, my ultimate concert partner, Dan and my friend, CK at Araneta. Their song Everything is one of my ultimate favorite songs of all-time, and I was praying and hoping that they’d get to play it. l ended up a bit disappointed that they didn’t. Nonetheless, I had a great time and they were still able to play most of their signature songs, ending it with the emotional Broken.

Before the Alicia Keys concert at Fridays

Last night was amazing. As a huge fan, it was impossible not to be overwhelmed by seeing and hearing an 11-time Grammy winner like Alicia Keys perform live. She was just so amazing and even more wonderful than I expected her to be. My sister and I ate at Fridays first before going to the venue held at the SMX Convention Center. I really didn’t like the venue, but I understood that it was changed last minute to cater to the possibility of rains and storms. Logistics was terrible too. The show that was supposed to start at 8...

Almost there

15 March 2008

I’d like to take comfort in the fact that I just finished one seemingly psychotic week. Perhaps that is somewhat of an overstatement. But allow me the liberty to make that exaggeration, especially after just enduring one of the most extremely trying weeks of my Ateneo academic life. I’ve technically got less that two weeks left before I end my junior year. Unfortunately, I really don’t have anything to rejoice about until the very last day. It will end when it ends. For the mean time, I gotta make the most out of it. More importantly, I gotta do well.

Days pass by so swiftly as I struggle to find time for myself. I feel as if instead of fitting into my schedule all the group reports and meetings, research and paper work, OJT applications, org meetings, interviews, etc., it feels as if I’m the one who has to fit myself in all those things. Maybe that doesn’t really make sense, but somehow I feel like I have to adjust myself. Sometimes it feels like everything else has been bigger than myself. Sigh. Nevermind. Simply put, it just gets quite exhausting.

Not that it hasn’t been any fun. Nor do I end up sacrificing fun ultimately. I’m so happy to be an incoming officer for COA (Council of Organizations) next school year as the Performing Arts Cluster Head, working with organizations that share the same passion for the arts. I’ve also gotten to know most of the COA officers, and I only have positive things to say. Moreover, I’m equally ecstatic to be the Associate Editor of Aegis 2009 (the Ateneo Yearbook). Embarking on my last year is something I never thought would happen all too soon, but the reality of it all is that it’s really THAT fast. And really quite exciting, which makes being active so worthwhile. I’m so determined to do a beautiful job.
