The first Weekend of Summer of 42

7 July 2008

The first set of shows for Summer of 42 this weekend is done. It has been quite thrilling and exhausting at the same time. And since it has been awhile since I last did any production, I missed the exciting rush of doing a show.

BlueREPERTORY Presents Summer of 42

26 June 2008

This is just one of the things that have kept me really busy for the past month or so. See me sing, dance and play the eccentric Gloria, 40s style! And after quite a long hiatus from being on stage, I’m finally doing a production with BlueREP! Oh the joy of working with the cast and crew…

Approaching the End of a Summer-less Summer

7 June 2008

The usual buzz and hype brought about by the start of school is nowhere to be found, and has been replaced by the immediate scheduling of all my other work. Amazing how I seemed to express that so loosely. It seems as if I have to juggle rehearsals, Aegis work, COA meetings and the occasional PolSci concerns everyday recently. Even before rehearsals started, I was already occupied with Congress work and really late COA meetings afterwards.

That generally sums up most of my summer. And if not for the first 3 weeks of Singapore, Formsem and Camiguin, I wouldn’t even have a taste of that sweet indulgence I clearly deserved after the hell that is Junior year, second sem.

I wouldn’t want to think that it wasn’t fun at all. The stress, pressure and exhaustion are prices to pay for one of the more fulfilling, productive and inspiring moments of my entire college life. Since day 1, it has been a continuous learning experience. Besides, I just simply love what I do.

Come this school year, my 15 units will be a constant priority. I have my goals and I will do what I can to live up to my personal expectations. I don’t regret forgoing my minor and just sticking with my original curriculum of 15 units. I like my light schedule. As for the academic workload, I have yet to find out. Safe to say, I’m already excited. I mean I’ve been so mentally, emotionally and physically worked out the entire summer that I’ll just take the 15 units as a POSITIVE additional baggage. I know it’s cliche but it really is just a matter of strategic prioritizing and time management. Besides, I like school. haha.

My legs hurt from choreography rehearsals yesterday. But our choreographer, Mian is doing a great job. The choreography is just so cute. It’s truly going to be a challenge doing our choreography with our harmonies. But...

Overwhelming non-academic pursuits

28 May 2008

I just came from BlueREP pictorials. Yes. After two years of theatre hiatus, I finally auditioned for a BlueREP production. I’ve thought about it a lot before trying out, and even went out of my way to ask my parents for permission. I did that because if ever I do get in, I will have to devote school nights of June for rehearsals. It can be pretty tough for someone who lives in Makati like I do. Fortunately after my amazing persuading skills, they both finally agreed to it. It is my last year after all. Before I lock myself away to the world of law school, I might as well continue indulging in all the things I probably can’t do in the near future.

Hence, welcome to my busiest year ever. This is my attempt to overwhelm you guys. :)

Now that I have finished my practicum in Congress, I finally have time for rehearsals. I miss Congress already. I miss being part of that world and working with the good people in our office. I never really had any initial expectations, but I surprisingly left the place with newfound knowledge and appreciation of a lot of things that should matter. Everyday was a chance for me to learn and experience something new. It was not just about learning politics, the dynamics of power or national issues, but also learning more about myself. I shall miss the legislative life. haha.

For now, I am incredibly excited for BlueREP’s next musical, Summer of 42. I am thrilled to be part of the cast, especially since they were only to get 3 BlueREP female members in the play. I missed performing for BlueREP so much that even if our songs can be quite difficult, I am just so grateful to be back on stage – singing, dancing and acting again. I’m one-third of a close harmony singing group (much like The Andrew Sisters of the 40s) played by Charmie, Sab and I....

Woohoo! Seniors!

30 March 2008

I guess the new layout has to wait. I’ve been indulging lately that I barely had any time to sit in front of the computer for a day straight. I’ll try to whip something up when I get back, with hopefully lots of stories and adventures to tell. (I’m really not in a blogging mood, so pictures will have to do…)

Last Friday, I officially ended my BlueREP CORE duties and celebrated a successful year for BlueREP and the incoming core as well. I tried not to be sad and all because I’m pretty sure I’m still going to be active (maybe even more so!) next school year and will still help out with the new core. There are no words to describe how proud I am that my dear blockmate and friend, Emjo is now the new Company Manager for BlueREP. I am very excited for the organization next year. :)

BlueREP Year Ender 2008

It was really nice seeing a lot of old and new members, our talented alumni, and our blueREP friends come together to celebrate with us. There’s a part of me that is saddened by the thought that I haven’t performed in a long time. That will have to change soon.

Seniors na tayo!

Yesterday, on the other hand was spent with some of my PolSci blockmates. We went to Serendra to celebrate the end of our Junior year and the fact that we’re finally Seniors! After Serendra, they all headed to my house where we ended up playing guitar hero and Magic Sing. After everything that we’ve been through this sem, I just have to say that I love PolSci people. :)

haha. I’m sorry that this just sounded like such a lame entry, but I still need to do some last minute packing! Will try to blog as soon as I can.

Ciao. :)
