Recovering from the summer blogging slump

26 April 2007

It seems like I’ve been on some kind of blogging slump. Mostly because summer permits me to actually have some time not to just waste solely on the internet. I still end up browsing for a bit though, especially when insomnia hits past midnight. Oh what should I do??? Regardless of a terribly exhausting day or not, I still end up like the nocturnal person I don’t want to get used to be.

Shush. The things that bother me during summer time. Sweet.

With my COC friends: Ej, Zel and PiaA few days ago, my fabulous Candy Council of Cool 7 friends met up for a meeting in Greenbelt. Our brainstorming session went rather well, and we were able to come up with lots of good ideas. In between all the Candy-related business, we ended up having so much fun by just catching up, sharing, talking, laughing and making jokes. I’m so thankful I was given this chance to be a part of Candy magazine, meet the fabulous editors and work with these beautiful girls. Despite age, batch, school, and even personality differences, we all had something to share and contribute. To put it simply: I’m having a great time. I love them. Here’s a group picture below. Sadly, Anj wasn’t able to join us. We all missed you, Anj!

The American Idol Gives Back concert is on right now, while I’m making this part of the blog entry. At this point, Annie Lenox is singing Bridge Over Troubled Water. Can I just say she’s amazing? Actually, all the performances are spectacular, and the star-studded charity event is unbelievable. Grrrabe. I find myself a bit teary-eyed from all the footages of the damning problem that plagues Africa and even the youth of Africa. It’s just so moving. The urge to make a difference tugs my heartstrings.

Bono. American Prayer. Argh. It’s official – I’m bawling.

After recovering…

So going back to lighter things, I was reunited with one of my best friends from High School, Audrey, yesterday. She willingly accompanied me with my shopping hunt. It’s perfect because she also happens to be one of my favorite shopping buddies. Sayang wala ka, Jazzy. We ended up discovering lots of new stores that we vow to come back to. After finally looking for practically everything I intended to shop for, we had dessert together for some serious girl-bonding. Oh how I absolutely treasure moments like these with my friends. It becomes an instant happy pill. There’s nothing like a fresh perspective from someone who knows and cares for you. After any moment like this, I can’t help but look back, and realize how much things have both changed and remained the same at the same time. I am reminded by how my friends and I have matured a great deal from before.

Shopping with my breastfriend, Audrey.

Back then, I’m sure you all can remember having your own versions of utter drama-queen moments over ‘your’ seemingly complicated lives. I know I do. However, I still really believe we grow up to become more. It doesn’t mean we have less complicaticated lives now. In fact, I think it proves otherwise. But how we deal, manage and control our thoughts and feelings now surprise me. There’s just growth, and it’s nice to think that I can grow together with my friends. And because they’re absolutely the best kind, I feel like I have nothing to worry.

Enough sappiness.

After a very exhausting but successful shopping hunt with one of my best friends, I re-watched episode 19 of Heroes with my Dad. Amazing episode. It makes me so excited for the next. The Petrelli brothers own me. haha.

Yema Yum If this entry wasn’t long enough already, my mom, sisters, aunt and cousin were invited to lunch by family friends all the way down South in Laguna. It was a nice, refreshing change from the piercing heat here in the city. Not that it was any less hot over there. At least, the wind was continually strong, and the lush greens and the flowers abloom everywhere created that provincial-like atmosphere I so long and miss at times. We ate traditional Filipino bisita food outside, and some more scrumptious Laguna delicacies. My sisters, cousin and I were continually just goofing around, and eating lots of those sweet yema thingies. Walang pagasa ang diet sa akin.

That’s me with my little sister. Below is a shot of the flowers beside us. I’ll upload more pictures of the place in my Flickr Photostream.

Once I’ve converted to a Mac, I will upload a new Web2.0 standards layout. Yay!

“walang pag-asa ang diet sakin” that made me laugh!!! hahaha :) same here!! Better to eat and eat while we still can. We’ll limit ourselves when we get older and our metabolism is slower. haha! I had so much fun going around last Wednesday. We should do that again! And Jazzy should be there :)
