Of Simple Pleasures, My 2ndYr QPI and a BlueREP Meeting

    12 April 2007

Tagged by my Polsci guru, April. Name five simple pleasures.

    • A good dessert. Sweets do wonders for my mood. I can’t last a day without chowing down on something that will satisfy my sweet tooth. And I’m not just talking about the expensive ones or those that are restricted to chocolate or dairy. I’m also a big fan of fruits. In fact, I actually prefer a good fruit tart, pie or pastry over a chocolate cake sometimes. My favorite chocolate? Anything with hazelnut and lots and lots of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. A little slice of heaven right then and there.

    • Good conversation/company with good friends/family over good food. Priceless. May it be feeling sex and the city moments with my girl friends, honest and inspiring heart to hearts with my mom and dad, in-your-face, anything under the sun talks with my guy and girl buds (which always turn out to be this hilarious, laugh-trip episode), and light-hearted, series-engrossed to deep, intimate conversations with my boyfriend.

    • Discovering a good piece of art, appreciating it, and letting it inspire you. This includes finishing a great piece of literature, discovering a good band or Broadway musical, or even just by stumbling over a beautiful artwork.

    • Performing on stage and with an audience. Singing my heart out, taking on a totally different character and having a chance to share a story.

    • Rainy days wherein I find myself tucked under my fluffy covers with a full-blast airconditioned room, while listening to great music, writing in my journal and drowning on a cup of hot choco. Finally when the rain stops, I look out to see a giant, happy rainbow.

Shucks. The list can go and on. Life is too beautiful to sum it up in under a list of 5 simple pleasures. We should never deny ourselves with these simple pleasures. It doesn’t have to be expensive and grand. Let us take time to look at what this world and the people around us have to share. You may be surprised to realize that there really is too much good, love and beauty around us.

On a different note, I went back to Ateneo earlier to go get my grades. Props to the regcom people for a good job with the new system. There weren’t any lines at all and I didn’t encounter any problems. Summer classes start next week. Not that this concerns me because I won’t be having any. Ha! The only downside is that I probably won’t get to hang out with some of my friends, and most of them are taking summer classes.

Let me just say that I am incredibly thrilled about how this entire year worked out for me in the end. Seriously. My yearly QPI got me into the dean’s list and I am really, really happy about it! This is me reaping out the rewards of an incredibly trying but fulfilling year. Now, if only to have a yearly first-honors QPI... :)

After hanging out for awhile in Ateneo, I joined my fellow BlueRep CORE members and headed to Laura‘s house for our first official meeting. Gerauld took the pictures, but he has yet to upload them. Once I get my hands on those, I’ll update this entry. haha. Even if I had to go a bit earlier than everyone else, I still witnessed a great first meeting. Expect a great year ahead for BlueRep!
