Nothing's Gonna Change My World...

13 February 2008

I am reeling. Reeling from one of the most beautiful films I’ve ever seen.

Across The Universe I’m not really hard to please when it comes to movies, because I usually try to find something positive about it. But this time, I’m just going to rave incessantly about how much I enjoyed my pre-Valentine’s Day movie. (Actually, I just said that for the sole reason that I just watched it now, a day before Valentine’s Day. And no, it’s not some sort of date, as I happily watched it alone before I finally start with my Philo102 long test.)

The fact that it’s a musical is enough to make me want to watch it. Moreover, it’s a Beatles musical, using their most memorable songs ever. And trust me there were a lot that was used in the movie. And if you’re a fan, (like I am!) you will enjoy every bit of it. Because it is everything you love about the Beatles: their songs, the mood and emotion their songs evoke, the message they bring about, the time all those songs started to make sense. The movie is an artwork in itself, and the director Julie Taymor did a wonderful job. Of course the fact that she is of theatrical background made so much sense.

Oh man, it was so good. All throughout the movie, I was just in complete awe (plus the goosebumps). It was that good that it is quite impossible to pinpoint my favorite parts!

The leads and ensemble did an amazing job. The guy playing Jude, Jim Sturgess is adorable. hahaha.

I’m just really still reeling. Here’s the trailer for you guys to check out.

I highly recommend this movie.

as for the song, look for Rufus Wainwright’s cover of that song. I loved it. :)
