Harry Potter Book 7 Day!
Fret not. This is SPOILER FREE.
Oh yes. This post is going to manifest Harry Potter fandom to the nth level. I just can’t possibly let this magical day go to waste without blogging about this much-anticipated release. I have long been excited about the book – a million times more than the release of the 5th movie. (FYI: I enjoyed the movie incredibly, and thought it was still brilliant.) Besides, after having finished reading the final installment, I just have to have some sort of ‘vent-out.’ Especially since I don’t know anyone who has finished the book at this very hour.

“We now present the seventh and final installment in the epic tale of Harry Potter.” (Written inside the book jacket.)
I was happy to wake up pretty darn early to line up for the 7am release over at Powerbooks, Greenbelt. My sister and I arrived 20 minutes before 7, and were already greeted by 2 long lines. It was so hard for me to contain my excitement around my sister and the people there especially when Powerbooks, Greenbelt was transformed to some kind of Harry Potter haven overnight!

It didn’t take long till my sister and I got our copy. Heck, just before we paid for it, guys from Kids Q interviewed me! Powerbooks even gave out free magazines, donuts and coffee. Everyone’s capitalizing on this global phenomenon, and celebrating the HP fever! I don’t mind! I love it. I’m a massive fan! And no matter how annoying this hype can be to all those could-care-less people, I’d still happily rave about it!!! Weeeee!

That’s me and my sister. Mukhang sobrang bangag! haha. Early morning excitement! You could just imagine the inexplainable rush that took hold of me upon skimming through the first page. No. I did not even try to look at the list of chapters. I detest spoilers. I did find it incredibly funny to see the guy standing across me flip through the last pages of the book and read through it. Winner. Of course, if he did attempt to start talking about it, I was probably capable of inflicting physical harm. Forealz.
Brought about by cravings for Krispy Kreme, my sister and I headed over to The Fort. I was also dying to check out the 5-storey Fully Booked! Did I mention I adore bookstores? Entering bookstores, has the same effect as entering Zara or Rustans. It was an instant happy pill. There is no way I can be sad inside such place. The building is also gorgeous! It can be the perfect place to chill. I could just stay there and blissfully visit all floors and check out their extensive collection. And boy do they one heck of a collection! From all kinds of books, art materials, high-end school supplies to a fabulously organized music and movie collection! My sister and I ended up buying Harry Potter DVDs. We only have the 4th one before, and we really wanted to complete the entire set!

Although I have fairly calmed down, I’m still very much reeling from the after-effect of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. As soon as I arrived home around 9am, I couldn’t wait to start reading. And since I’ve always been a fast reader (it doesn’t mean a speed read because I don’t), by the time I left the house at 12:30pm to go to Ateneo, I was almost halfway done.
I was supposed to watch BlueRep’s 25th Annual Spelling Bee. Arriving hours earlier, I hung out with BlueRep and realized how many fellow HP-fans were there. Shoutout to the HP Book7 Reading Club that took place inside FA Theatre earlier. haha. It was funny how we were all clutching on to our dear HP books, and longing for the time to continue reading it! It was even more amusing to see lots of students carrying that thick book around Ateneo. It was literally everywhere!
Once I arrived home, I happily continued reading. A few hours after, I finished the best installment of Harry Potter ever. I could even go as far to say that it was just the best even if all books were to be combined. It was that good. What a brilliant last book! J.K Rowling is pure genius. I could rave and rave about it in detail, but you guys will probably kill me.
I was bawling like mad after reading it. Everytime it dawned upon me that it was the final installment, I feel like my heart is breaking. As always, my emotions really get the best out of me. If I had any expectations for this book, the 7th installment exceeded it by a million miles. I had goosebumps chapter after chapter. It was perfectly crafted. More importantly, there was that much needed closure. Everything about Harry Potter will surely be missed. And even if it has ended, I will continue enjoying the series, loving the characters, and believing in my childhood magical world.
Shush. I NEED TO TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT THE BOOK!!!! hahaha. Feel free to comment here or email me about anything that concerns the book. I’d love to talk about it with you guys.
ADDENDUM: It’s the day after and I’m surfing through HP fansites and even J.K.‘s own. I still can’t help but feel extremely sad over the end of the series. Of course, my sister is not yet done. Boo. I can’t wait to talk to her about my thoughts.
