Celebrating Sarah's Big Adventure

5 April 2007

Yesterday, I found myself reunited with my High School friends to execute our little surprise adventure for one of my best friends, Sarah. A few days before, my partner-in-crime Jazzy and I (picture on the right) wanted to have some kind of surprise for Sarah. Big Sisters: The brains behind Sarah's Big Adventure! It was just very fitting because we also wanted to see each other and celebrate the end of our school year. Finally, we came up with the perfect surprise adventure ala Amazing Race. Whoopee. Problem is we had to recruit a little bit more than ten people for a flawless execution. And since it was terribly short notice for everyone, we were a bit apprehensive about the participants. Oh well. Being the resourceful, quick-thinkers that we were (haha), we were able to make do, despite only a few who confirmed. And I am soooo happy that most of my and Sarah’s friends were there to help out. Thank you so much, loves!

Pre-SBA meeting with my friends Meeting with my friends at Taters just before Sarah arrives. See the papers? Jazmine and I printed out an outline of the event. OC-ness.

So after submitting an overdue library book back in a very, very quiet Ateneo, I picked Jazmine up (she goes to UP) and headed to G4 to meet up with the rest of gang. I had to relay all the necessary instructions, and because we were a bit short with man power, we ended up recruiting my friend, Kristine’s boyfriend. (Thanks so much, Don!)

Our great big surprise for Sarah consisted of various ‘stations’ and activities/dares that she had to go to and accomplish. Jazmine and I chose several memorable places to serve as our ‘stations.’ Of course, all of those were in either G4 or GB3. Thinking about all those memorable places with Jazmine brought back a lot of good memories that goes all the way back to High School. I had some of my high school friends to help out execute the dares and the plans. Fortunately, there weren’t any problems and Sarah had a great time even if it meant buying uhm videos and being blindfolded in greenbelt.

Happy 20th Birthday, Sarah! :) Sarah’s last stop was at Big Buddha, Greenbelt. Everyone who participated was present to surprise her. Station after station, the people she met had to go somewhere else, leaving her with another person. It probably confused her a bit, but at the end, everyone was there to complete the surprise. And you know how that goes… lots of catching up, tsismisan, and eventually planning for our next get-together. It’s quite hard because our schedules make it hard for us to come up with a common date. With my fellow budding graphic designer, Charz! And since everyone has summer classes except for me, they’re also at the mercy of their summer class schedules. Of course, we all make an effort to see each other. That’s probably one of the many things I love about my friends – these friends. Despite all the things that we personally go through, we always make an effort. And we constantly remind each other that we are there for each other. There are no doubts whatsoever. It’s amazing.

After eating, we kind of had some idle time to have our little photo shoots.

I love this picture I absolutely love this picture.

We also had time to squeeze in dessert at Coffee Bean. Here’s a shot with my best friends: Audrey, Jazmine and Sarah. We were sharing a triple decker cheesecake and chocolate fudge cake. Yummy. I wish I had pictures!

Best Friends

Ultimately, it was a great day. And all kinds of days with my friends like these are days that I absolutely relish and treasure. Onwards to more. :)

But for now, just in time for Holy Week, it doesn’t hurt to spend it with your family and reflect a bit. Hibernation for me. Toodles.

high school reunions are nice, even those in your close circle of friends. for us, it’s a bit hard to do…most of us have jobs in call centers, and some have hospital duties.

it can give an opportunity to catch up…although it seems that it’s pretty evident that some of us are getting on! there are four of us in law school, and when we see our friends who are married (believe it or not, some of them are), “eee! look at where we are now!”

Layla: I wonder how it will all go for us as well, say 5 years or so.
