    A Little Less Vague

    4 May 2008

It’s a sunny Sunday, a welcoming treat from the oh-too-annoying sudden strong downpour of yesterday afternoon. Storms are usually my cup of tea. But at times when it starts to ruin my already set important plans, then it is just downright annoying. I missed some important meetings, and a COA get-together that I was looking forward to go to. I was just absolutely not in the mood yesterday, and spent the rest of the night locked up in my room, tinkering with phone applications and watching Disney. (The latter somehow lifted my spirits up.)

But all is well now. I’ll take the glorious sunny skies as a good sign. Sunday is my favorite day. And my preferred blogging day as well. It’s also about time I start to blog after every few days rather than just once a week. Perhaps I’m just saying that because of the long weekend afforded to me. And what a refreshing long weekend indeed. It’s been quite awhile since I last bummed around and became idle even for a bit. I even had time to catch up with my other best friends from High School, who were unfortunately absent during our last reunion.

I decided we should try eating somewhere in Greenbelt 5 and ended up at this really pretty restaurant called Damaso. They serve Filipino dishes with funky names from El Fili and Noli characters. We found ourselves reminiscing over our High School El Fili/Noli days for a short while. Haha. It was too funny. :) But the food was delicious and satisfying. I even tried their tsokolate eh with goat’s milk and it was divine. One of the best hot chocolate drinks I’ve ever drunk.

We spent the night talking and laughing over everything! It was about time we catch up on each other’s lives, especially when one of my friends had such amazing news! Our conversations ended up with my friend, Jazmine jotting down notes on advices and tips for our friend (and maybe for our future reference as well. haha). She’s weird like that.

It was quite interesting actually. We talked about ‘the non-negotiables,’ when it comes to relationships and the men we’re dating. Lots of laughs here and there, and we all had pretty strong and different ideas. It was too funny that some of us were throwing the cheesiest cliches. However! They pretty much made sense. One day, I’d be able to steal Jazmine’s notebook and type away our ‘words of wisdom.’

Amidst the candidness and goofiness, we delved further into the ideal traits and went even further to uhm… tips! All the while, they dubbed me as the expert and forced me to divulge the ‘secrets.’ It was honestly for good, clean fun (and maybe because our dearest friend’s personal happiness is somehow at stake). I seriously think they are delusional. Because for one, I’m no expert. Second, because I’m currently single. haha. But then that’s really my choice.

    Let’s get personal.

The past few months since I’ve made that decision to not go into any romantic relationship anytime soon is really one that I believe to be something I need. It didn’t stem out of bitterness, hurt or resentment. (Promise!) It was simply a choice that made sense and still does at this very moment. I’m enjoying it immensely. My current priorities keep me grounded and focused. There maybe a lot of personal reasons behind that, but I’d like to think it’s not one that was brought about by any form of negativity.

But I know that since then and until now, I may have broken hearts and troubled quite a number of people. People that are incredibly close and important to me. It wasn’t easy for me as well. And like them, I had my share of trivialities. So this is me, apologizing. Hopeful in some ways. Thankful for the most part.
