"Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless."
- Mother Theresa
I go by Pearl. I’m twenty, but I look younger. Currently a college student residing in this small, tropical paradise of an archipelago, known as the Philippines.
I’m someone who can’t be boxed – capricious, volatile, ambitious, and perhaps just a bit of a walking contradiction. However that made me sound like, I do like myself as much as I like my website.
When I get a bit self-absorbed, I try lists…
- I had a great childhood and had the best pre-school, grade school and high school memories at my school, Colegio San Agustin, Makati. Now, I’m finally an Atenean, taking up Political Science with the current goal of pursuing Law someday.
- As much as I do live by the moment, the future is there to currently entice me. My hopes and dreams are endless. Some of these so-called ‘life goals’ include becoming a lawyer, traveling around the world, volunteering at a panda reserve in China, creating my own coffee table book to showcase my graphics, publishing my own collection of prose, skydiving, performing on broadway and rocking out with a band infront of a big audience.
- I have loved the stage and the audience ever since I can remember, so anything that allows me to be on that stage and in front of people makes me one happy girl. These instances involve acting, singing, dancing, hosting, orating, talking, story-telling, etc. However, I do not claim to be exceptionally good at any of them.
- Since I was 6, I have lost count about how many plays, orations, monologues and story-telling pieces that I have participated and won awards with. However, it is only through BlueRep, my college org in Ateneo that I finally had the chance to try one of the many things that I have always loved – Broadway.
- The arts in all forms and sizes interest me. When I was a kid, I used to draw and paint a lot. Then I was introduced and got addicted to good ol MS Paint (yes, the computer program). I was really good at it even at the tender age of 10. I could draw the entire Southpark cast (really well too!) on Paint. Finally, when I finally got my hands on Adobe’s pen tool, I found magic. And together, we continue to make magic in Photoshop and Illustrator. I do freelance. Request for my services?
- My interests and hobbies are scattered far and wide. But like most people out there, I also enjoy books, movies and music. Perhaps one more than the other, depending on my mood.
- Pop culture is my guilty pleasure. I make pop culture references any chance I can. I am also so showbiz it’s not even funny. May it be for pure mockery or just being in the know how.
- I like writing. I used to be a part of our school publication and was once the editor for our literary magazine. Now, I enjoy writing within my own personal space and have written a couple of short stories and poems that I have yet to share the world. I still do like to read more.
- I’m both fashion and grade conscious and so far being both has served me well. Believe it or not, I take school seriously and can hike, run and play basketball in stilettos. You might have noticed how I just made a compound sentence joining two really different ideas that have no connection whatsoever. I’m weird like that.
- I’m a people person. It’s easy for me to open up, get to know people and work with them. Mostly because learning from them usually gives me so much joy.
- I do treasure my relationships, especially when I know they are worth it. Trusting people easily is my weakness. Believe me, it has been taken advantage of more than once.
- Unfortunately, I can’t turn down a dare, which throws the whole prim and proper kind of first impression about me out of the window.
I’ve always been an optimist with a rainbows and butterflies outlook on life. However, unfortunate circumstances have slowly tainted this notion. I’d still like to believe I’m an optimist, and would like to continue being so.
I’ve learned though that life is what you make of it. It is up to us to live life with a purpose or without. I do have great faith. And it is that faith in myself, others and in the Almighty that keeps me going.
